Oneness

Oneness: A Wholistic View Of Nature

By Michael Roads

It is a simple fact that most thinking people view our current environmental situation as in a crisis. To me, this is the viewpoint of separation. I am aware that my view of Nature is not a popular one … that humanity is crisis-inclined … but nevertheless, I intend to give a brief outline of a more wholistic viewpoint.
First however, let me spend just a few moments with the anxiety-based view of separation. Separation, as the word implies, suggests that all life is separate. This concept may well embrace the web of connection in all life, accepting the chain of dependency that is so brilliantly shown in video documentaries of rain forest ecology, but it nevertheless relates to life through an intellectual framework of isolation. Many of those documentaries show that if one species of animal/bird/insect/plant in that chain of dependency is threatened to the point of extinction, then the whole chain crumbles, and eventually many species will perish.
Even the word ‘extinction’ is based in separation. Extinction means that today – in our time frame – some species no longer exist. And, according to this concept, all the evidence shows that an ever-increasing number of species are becoming extinct every day.
This all-too-brief summary leads us to the popular conclusion that our fauna and flora is becoming rapidly depleted, and that we must save all the species from extinction that we can. After all, as the car number-plate stickers say… Extinction is forever. This belief system has generated a huge environmental movement of ‘Save the …!’ A movement heavily laced with environmental fear, guilt, and anger. We need someone to blame – don’t we always – some person, or some corporate business, who can be publicly punished. This helps create a satisfactory and self-righteous conclusion.
All this is happening, of that there is no doubt. On a physical level, many species are leaving this planet, while environmental changes are staggering in their speed of approach, along with the impact that this is having, and will continue to have, on our lives. All this is indisputably happening in our everyday physical life.
Oneness or Separation?
For many years I had a teacher that I will simply call The Spirit of Nature. I still have this teacher, but our relationship has gone through a subtle, yet major change. This teacher opened me to the Nature that IS. Not simply our physical, everyday Nature, but the Truth and Spirit beyond that familiar level.
First, I had to go beyond the boundaries and borders defining what we term as normal reality. Most people get very frightened if their experiences move them beyond regular understanding, or explanation. I had to learn to get comfortable with this, and it took time. I learned that our normal consensus (all in agreement) reality was shockingly limited, and that beyond those accepted boundaries a far Greater Reality awaited. I found that many others had discovered this Reality before me, and some of these non-physical Beings helped expand on my education.
I learned about our metaphysical reality, and how our linear time-frame of reference is a tiny prison: a prison that we continually reinforce through our narrow and structured belief systems.
And I learned about Oneness. Oneness stands outside of all intellectual reference, it can only be a totally wholistic experience. An experience which, sadly, we have isolated ourselves from. We have built a wall around the possibility of us experiencing Oneness, and the name of the wall is, of course, separation.
Separation has become our reality. Not our Truth, simply our reality, and we are the poorer for it.
All Life Is One
If you look into a mirror, you know perfectly well that the reflection in the mirror is not truly you. It is no more than a reflection. If the mirror is removed while you are looking into it, you know that you are not dead, or extinct, simply because there is no longer a reflection of your physical body for you to look at.
Believe it or not, but the physical world of Nature is no more than the reflection in an unrealised mirror of metaphysical Nature. And equally, if you remove the physical reflection from the mirror, this in no way proves that the metaphysical reality no longer exists, or is extinct.
Most humans believe that we are more than a physical body. This suggests that we have a spiritual life, maybe even having a metaphysical (beyond the physical) body which is no longer visible in mirrors, or to other people when we are so-called dead.
I would need to write a book to go into the details of this (one day!) so I will state a simple, but profound, truth: all time occupies the same space. The past, present, and future are all occupying the same moment, a moment that is never static. Time/life is ‘the movement in the moment’. For us, generally, linear time is our way of living within the frame of cause and effect. In our interpretation of time, we believe that the past is unalterable – false, and that the future is forever unreachable – false.
I’m sorry, but I offer no explanation for this, and you are free to reject it. I will say, however, that if we were Beings of a linear time frame only, then what I have stated would not be true. But we are not physical Beings containing spirit, we are spiritual Beings expressing Self in a physical body/form.
This is also true of Nature. And this brings us to Oneness.
Oneness is the knowing/experience that All life is One, and that the so-called parts are all the vast and incredible diversity of One. So, if you have followed this, and may even be in agreement with it, there is another big step to take. If any aspect – species – of the One is threatened, then because All is One, that means that the One/All is threatened.
In other words, you are required here to make a choice. Either you accept that everything in life on this planet is moving in the rhythm of an unseen, not intellectually understandable, but clearly inescapable perfection, or, everything – and I mean everything – is in a state of total chaos and collapse. Make that choice from your heart center if you can, rather than the head. It’s difficult to make intellectual choices about a non- intellectuality reality!
If Nothing Is Out Of Order, Why Are We Losing Species?
What is taking place on this planet right now is unprecedented Change. Change with a capital C! Human thinking is not really expanding, it is following the same clogged lines of intellectual reasoning that it has always followed. We are at an impasse; either we continue with more of the same, or we are literally forced into change. And I mean Change!
If we have one enemy today, its name is ‘sameness.” You cannot change and remain the same. Think about it! Humanity avoids change as though it is a plague. We love to modify, but modification is not change.
Personally, I really love the balanced environmentalists. They are a big pin up the backside of apathy. And, of course, apathy is a form of unchanging stagnation.
So where does Nature and the loss of species come into this? I will simply put it this way; it is no longer appropriate for many of the species to be in this physical time frame during the times of Change we are moving into. Just as Nature can withdraw a species from a time frame, so, when it is appropriate, species can be reintroduced. Everyone is aware today of the rapid withdrawal of species, and there is much – well meant – comment about this, but very few people seem to be aware of the consciousness of other species – and some that have been so-called extinct – that are metaphysically moving into this time frame awaiting their time to again have a physical expression.
Of course, if you say, prove my words, I cannot. Nor would I if I could. I will say, however, that if you are prepared to leave the confinement of a very limited consensus reality, and take a journey into the vast never-ending arena of a Greater Reality, you will find as I, and the sages and mystics of the centuries, have found… that what I have so very briefly outlined here is based in inexplicable Truth.
Do as Alice did. Instead of spending your whole life looking in the mirror and living the reflection of its illusion, go into the looking glass! Walking right through it, and I promise you that here, you will find an ever-expanding and revealing Truth that will change your life.

He immigrated to Australia in 1963 where he was a beef and dairy farmer, and prominent in the early organic movement. He wrote the first book on organic gardening in Australia, which was an immediate best seller. After becoming spiritually awakened in 1986, Michael wrote about his metaphysical experiences and has since published 14 books, translated into 16 languages. 2013 marks his 22nd year of traveling around the world giving talks and 5-day Intensives on unconditional Love and emotional balance. michaelroads
