A Review of Carolyn Baker’s 'Collapsing Consciously'

One can open this 173-page book just about anywhere, read a few pages, and have something to contemplate and meditate for the rest of the day, or several days, or a lifetime. The book is divided into 2 parts: “Collapse, Transition, the Great Turning” and “Transformative Truths for Turbulent Times.” The first part, about 2/3 of the book, works as a kind of Zen-slap to wake up the disconnected, mesmerized and unfocussed to the terrible predations we have made on Planet Earth these past 200 years of the Industrial Revolution and 100 years of Corporate-Federal Reserve-Media-Military-Academic State-ism. The last 63 pages consist of pertinent, sometimes glittering, quotes from Ms. Baker’s wide and varied reading in Jung and psychology, the Arts, environment and political matters—and her thoughts in response to those quotes and insights. This is a book with “designs” on the reader: the author intends to warn, inform, and transform.

The book’s author-profile states that Dr. Baker is a “former psychotherapist and professor of psychology and history. She is nationally renowned for her writing and workshops on emotional resilience in challenging times…. Her books include Navigating the Coming Chaos: A Handbook for Inner Transition and “Sacred Demise: Walking the Spiritual Path of Industrial Civilization’s Collapse. Her website is SpeakingTruth to Power, at www.carolynbaker.net.”

I confess that I have not read Ms. Baker’s previous books, but I have, in recent years, profitably read her articles appearing at some of the best progressive websites as well as her own site. In spite of her obvious erudition, Ms. Baker has a way of “telling it like it is,” without frills--a wise woman talking frankly to those wise enough to listen.

 “Our inexorable reality in this moment is one of contraction, decline, and demise. Industrial civilization is collapsing.” Thus, with punches un-pulled, she launches us outward, upward and within from the get-go. There, in the intro, we also learn a little about her recent battles: “As I send this book to publication, I have recently confronted a personal collapse in the form of a health challenge. I have been humbled and constrained by a recurrence of breast cancer. And although my treatment is complete and my prognosis very good… I recognize it as yet another spiritual rite of passage….

Rites of passage, of course, are not easy to navigate… and impossible to circumvent. Fact is humankind in 2014, decades after those prophetic masters’—Orwell’s and Huxley’s—dark premonitions… has succeeded in trumping those foreboding visions. With Ms. Baker’s book and the daily headlines, it’s easy to catalogue the innumerable crises we face: Polar Vortex? What the hell is that? Is there a tie-in with Global Climate Change? What about all this methane gas being released from Siberia’s permafrost melting? What about “Peak Oil”? What about the plume of radiation emanating from the crippled Fukushima nuclear plants? Why hasn’t something been done about the hole in the ozone that I first read about some 30 years ago? When will the endless “peace process” end and we simply have Peace in the Middle East and elsewhere? Are we incapable of transcending our warrior past, our reptilian brain, our genetic, social and historical limitations?

These are some of the questions Ms. Baker would have us examine, and, always, she urges us to know ourselves, to understand deeply. With her background in psychology—especially Jungian--, she exhorts us to know our “Shadow” side—to embrace even the darkness. Collapse consciously! That’s the ticket. There’s hell to pay. We’ve messed up our only home and things will get a lot worse… before they… if they ever get better!

But we can conceive the multitude of challenges we face as a spiritual journey, too.

Let me be clear: this is no namby-pamby “New Age” book where everything turns out honky-dory if only we chant “Om” while the Earth gets fracked beneath our rising kundalini’s. More than once, Ms. Baker enjoins the human race to “grow up!” We are forewarned in the intro: “I am drawn to the perennial wisdom of the towering giants of poetry, story, art, music, and literature. They never have and never will offer us happy stories with happy endings. Rather, they offer us life—in all of its angst, beauty, ire, terror, joy, celebration, ecstasy and demise.” And, again, in her first chapter: “Preparing logistically or emotionally for the collapse of life as we have known it since arriving on this planet is not supposed to be fun.” And, in a later chapter: “Unless we include the possibility of death in our presentation, we aren’t really preparing.” Yes, this is also a book about learning how to die, how to face death.

Like Chris Hedges in Empire of Illusion, Ms. Baker has no patience with our cult of “positive thinking.” I think that cult is a legitimate target of real thinkers (who acknowledge the Shadow), but, occasionally, Ms. Baker over-shoots her mark, conflating all New Agers with Dale Carnegie-type positivists. Of course, “New Age” goes back some 40 years, and is feeling its knees. But much of it was about much more than positive thinking and Ms. Baker knows that in her bones every time she relates a bit of Eastern wisdom, or quotes Lao Tzu or Buddha.

This is a book about becoming whole again; reaching deep within, not to overcome the Shadow, but to integrate and join forces with it. It’s a book about developing a planetary consciousness to confront the global muck we’ve created. It’s a book about making connections—within ourselves, and with others. Ms. Baker quotes Francis Weller, author of Entering the Healing Ground: Grief, Ritual, and the Soul of the World:

 “Our sorrow eases the hardened places within us, allowing them to open again and freeing us to once more feel our kinship with the living presence around us. This is deep activism, soul activism that actually encourages us to connect with the tears of the world.”

To the People of the World:

My name is Shou Kamihara. I'm a ghost writer in Japan. Or should I say, I used to be one. Like the kind Ewan McGregor portrayed in the 2010 movie "Ghost Writer." Essentially I write books for academics, famous authors, actors and actresses and so on, all the while hiding in the shadows as a "ghost." But ever since the Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11, 2011, I felt I couldn't be just a ghost anymore. That's because when I tried to put the events of 3.11 into a book, especially the accident that occurred at the Fukushima No. 1 Nuclear Power Plant, I couldn't get anyone to give me their cooperation. For a long time - 30 or 40 years - the electric companies have given out large donations and provided sponsorships. This has created an environment in which academics, authors, and entertainers who received money or want to receive money can't say anything against those companies.

Still, I felt there was a need to write about what happened in Japan, at Fukushima, and the panic that gripped Tokyo. If nobody else is going to write about it, it's up to me. I can't be a ghost. I decided to show myself and publish this book.

I began writing this book in September of the same year as the nuclear accident, 2011, and finally put my pen down in March 2012. Then I immediately put it out for publication at my own expense. I was getting pretty far along in talks with some major domestic publishers. The editing departments supported my efforts and seemed willing to publish. But the people in sales were the exact opposite.

"We can't publish a book like you wrote, about someone who fled Tokyo because they were afraid of the radiation. If we put a book like that out, it would anger our sponsors, and we might lose our income from them. The risk for loss from our sponsors leaving is greater than the possible profits we could make off of the book. We can't publish a book about this sort of thing."

The sponsors they mentioned were mainly those places like real estate agencies, travel agencies, hotels, rail companies, and Disneyland, which have their main bases of operation in the Tokyo area. Of course, all of these companies are in business with their chips on Tokyo, so naturally they'd want to avoid writing a book about Tokyo's nuclear contamination.

I was turned down in the same way by a number of different publishing companies. I was on friendly terms with all of these places, having done business with all of them for more than 10 years. Their decisions caused me to become depressed. But I truly felt that a book needed to be published about the disaster on 3.11 and the Fukushima accident, a book that told the truth without twisting anything. The Japanese mass media - television as well as newspapers - hadn't told the people anything.

"There is no need for immediate evacuation." "There is no immediate threat to human health." "There is no risk to one's health from eating vegetables or meat contaminated by radiation." "We need to send the contaminated rubble from the disaster site to (garbage) incinerators all over the country to be burned. This is the kizuna, the bond, of the Japanese people."

This response of defending the electric companies and dismissing the issue of their responsibility, underestimating the health risks of nuclear radiation, and not caring about whether the citizenry is exposed to radiation or not - in other words, doing nothing to protect the people - has continued in Japan to this day a year and a half later. The elderly, infants, pregnant women and so on are being thrown under the bus so that the electric companies can survive and the politicians can gather votes. As proof that this is the prevailing attitude, despite the fact that in these 18 months four or five workers cleaning up the Fukushima plant have suddenly died, they insist that there is no connection to radiation and there hasn't even been a police investigation.

Precisely because Japan is in this state, I couldn't afford to give up on publishing this book.

Therefore, this book was published at my own expense, meaning I covered all the charges and fees associated with getting it out. This way no one would be able to complain about anything. But the financial burden was considerable, and I can't afford to hold promotions to sell this book to the world like that which a typical author or publisher would. So I advertised over Twitter and spread news about it through word of mouth.

So somehow I finally got this book published, but there are still those in Japanese society who brand those worried about radiation contamination as "abnormal" or "crazy." Aside from those people who use the Internet to get their information from specialists overseas or inspect data from the Chernobyl disaster, most people have no source of information apart from Japanese TV and newspapers.

Affected by the psychological drive to rely on "safe, secure" information more than a desire for the truth, they are unable to make the right decisions for their lives and their health. This is remarkable for Tokyo, the central hub of Japan's economy. Contamination there is severe - soil contamination has been measured at between 10,000 and 100,000 becquerels - and contamination is routinely detected in school yards and in front of homes and train stations.

I want to ask the people all around the world who read this book to raise your voices to Japan. Please tell Japan that you want them to protect the elderly, children, and pregnant mothers. As long as there no movement from outside Japan, Japanese people will almost certainly continue to pretend they don't notice the radiation and go on with their lives. Please tell the people of Japan that you wish they'd move west of Tokyo, or even overseas if possible.

I'm thinking that I'd like to make the first part of this book (the prologue) open to the public for free. It's perfectly fine if you'd like to post the entire chapter on your blog, or use quotes to introduce the book over the Internet. Anyway, I'd like for what's happening in Japan, in Tokyo, to be as widely known as possible. I would be happy to see the newspapers, the TV and radio stations, and the publishing companies of the world take notice of this book, and I hope this information spreads all over the globe. Maybe that will lead to a change of heart in the Japanese administration, and they'll begin to place priority on protecting the lives and health of the citizenry. I would be overjoyed if all those people without power or voice who are worried about radiation exposure could move to a place where they don't have to worry anymore.

I don't speak anything but Japanese, so I had this book translated by Mr. White, who was introduced to me by a mutual friend. Though we didn't know anything about each other, he was able to sympathize with the contents of the book and the work moved along smoothly. I'm very thankful for that.

Something Is Killing Life All Over The Pacific Ocean

Why is there so much death and disease among sea life living near the west coast of North America right now? Could the hundreds of tons of highly radioactive water that are being released into the Pacific Ocean from Fukushima every single day have anything to do with it?

When I wrote my last article about Fukushima, I got a lot of heat for being “alarmist” and for supposedly “scaring” people unnecessarily.  I didn’t think that an article about Fukushima would touch such a nerve, but apparently there are some people out there that really do not want anyone writing about this stuff.

Right now, massive numbers of fish and sea creatures are dying in the Pacific Ocean. In addition, independent tests have shown that significant levels of cesium-137 are in a very high percentage of the fish that are being caught in the Pacific and sold in North America. Could this have anything to do with the fact that the largest nuclear disaster in the history of mankind has been constantly releasing enormous amounts of radioactive material into the Pacific Ocean for more than two years?  I don’t know about you, but to me this seems to be a question that is worth asking.

Since I wrote my last article, major news outlets have reported that large numbers of sea stars living off of the west coast of North America appear to be “melting“…

    Divers were out in Puget Sound waters Saturday to see if they can help solve a mystery. Scientists are trying to figure out what’s causing one species of starfish to die in parts of Puget Sound and the waters off of Canada.

    Seattle Aquarium biologists Jeff Christiansen and Joel Hollander suited up in scuba gear in their search for answers.  “We’re going to look for both healthy and potentially diseased sea stars,” Christiansen explained. “We’ve got some sea stars that look like they’re melting on the bottom.”

    The same thing is happening in the waters near Canada and nobody’s sure why.

If scientists don’t know why this is happening, perhaps there is an unusual explanation for this phenomenon.

Could it be Fukushima?

The following is what one invertebrate expert quoted by National Geographic says is happening to the starfish…

    [The starfish] seem to waste away, ‘deflate’ a little, and then just … disintegrate. The arms just detach, and the central disc falls apart. It seems to happen rapidly, and not just dead animals undergoing decomposition, as I observed single arms clinging to the rock faces, tube feet still moving, with the skin split, gills flapping in the current. I’ve seen single animals in the past looking like this, and the first dive this morning I thought it might be crabbers chopping them up and tossing them off the rocks. Then we did our second dive in an area closed to fishing, and in absolutely amazing numbers. The bottom from about 20 to 50 feet [6 to 15 meters] was absolutely littered with arms, oral discs, tube feet, gonads and gills … it was kind of creepy.

That certainly does not sound normal to me.

Shouldn’t we be trying to figure out why this is happening?

Something is also causing a huge spike in the death rate for killer whales living off of the coast of British Columbia…

    A Vancouver Aquarium researcher is sounding the alarm over “puzzling” changes he’s observed in the killer whale pods that live off the southern British Columbia coast.

    Dr. Lance Barrett-Lennard says he fears changes in the ocean environment are prompting odd behaviour and an unusually high mortality rate.

    Barrett-Lennard says the southern resident orca pod, which is found in the Salish Sea between Vancouver Island and the B.C. mainland, has lost seven matriarchs over the past two years, and he’s noticed a lack of vocalizations from the normally chatty mammals.

Once again, scientists do not know why this is happening.

Could it be Fukushima?

I am just asking the question.

Clearly something unusual is happening to the Pacific. The following is what one Australian discovered as he journeyed across the Pacific Ocean recently…

    The next leg of the long voyage was from Osaka to San Francisco and for most of that trip the desolation was tinged with nauseous horror and a degree of fear.

    “After we left Japan, it felt as if the ocean itself was dead,” Macfadyen said.

    “We hardly saw any living things. We saw one whale, sort of rolling helplessly on the surface with what looked like a big tumour on its head. It was pretty sickening.

    “I’ve done a lot of miles on the ocean in my life and I’m used to seeing turtles, dolphins, sharks and big flurries of feeding birds. But this time, for 3000 nautical miles there was nothing alive to be seen.”

    In place of the missing life was garbage in astounding volumes.

    “Part of it was the aftermath of the tsunami that hit Japan a couple of years ago. The wave came in over the land, picked up an unbelievable load of stuff and carried it out to sea. And it’s still out there, everywhere you look.”

What would cause the Pacific Ocean to be “dead”?

Could it be Fukushima?

When you consider the evidence presented above along with all of the other things that we have learned in recent months, it becomes more than just a little bit alarming.

The following are some more examples of sea life dying off in the Pacific from my recent article entitled “28 Signs That The West Coast Is Being Absolutely Fried With Nuclear Radiation From Fukushima“…

-Polar bears, seals and walruses along the Alaska coastline are suffering from fur loss and open sores…

    Wildlife experts are studying whether fur loss and open sores detected in nine polar bears in recent weeks is widespread and related to similar incidents among seals and walruses.

    The bears were among 33 spotted near Barrow, Alaska, during routine survey work along the Arctic coastline. Tests showed they had “alopecia, or loss of fur, and other skin lesions,” the U.S. Geological Survey said in a statement.

-There is an epidemic of sea lion deaths along the California coastline…

    At island rookeries off the Southern California coast, 45 percent of the pups born in June have died, said Sharon Melin, a wildlife biologist for the National Marine Fisheries Service based in Seattle. Normally, less than one-third of the pups would die.  It’s gotten so bad in the past two weeks that the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration declared an “unusual mortality event.”

-Along the Pacific coast of Canada and the Alaska coastline, the population of sockeye salmon is at a historic low.  Many are blaming Fukushima.

-Something is causing fish all along the west coast of Canada to bleed from their gills, bellies and eyeballs.

-Experts have found very high levels of cesium-137 in plankton living in the waters of the Pacific Ocean between Hawaii and the west coast.

-One test in California found that 15 out of 15 bluefin tuna were contaminated with radiation from Fukushima.

-Back in 2012, the Vancouver Sun reported that cesium-137 was being found in a very high percentage of the fish that Japan was selling to Canada…

• 73 percent of mackerel tested

• 91 percent of the halibut

• 92 percent of the sardines

• 93 percent of the tuna and eel

• 94 percent of the cod and anchovies

• 100 percent of the carp, seaweed, shark and monkfish

Is it really so unreasonable to wonder if Fukushima could be causing all of this?

And the total amount of nuclear material in the Pacific Ocean is constantly increasing.  According to the New York Times, the latest releases from Fukushima contain “much more contaminated water than before”, and the flow of contaminated water will not stop until 2015 at the earliest…

    The latest releases appear to be carrying much more contaminated water than before into the Pacific. And that flow may not slow until at least 2015, when an ice wall around the damaged reactors is supposed to be completed.

And that same article explained that cesium-137 is entering the Pacific at a rate that is “about three times as high” as last year…

    The magnitude of the recent spike in radiation, and the amounts of groundwater involved, have led Michio Aoyama, an oceanographer at a government research institute who is considered an authority on radiation in the sea, to conclude that radioactive cesium 137 may now be leaking into the Pacific at a rate of about 30 billion becquerels per year, or about three times as high as last year. He estimates that strontium 90 may be entering the Pacific at a similar rate.

Right now, approximately 300 tons of contaminated water is pouring into the Pacific Ocean from Fukushima every 24 hours.

But apparently we are not supposed to ask any questions about this and we are just supposed to blindly accept that this is not having any significant impact on our environment even though sea life in the Pacific appears to be dying in unprecedented numbers.

I don’t know about you, but I really think that the people of the world deserve to know the truth about what is happening out there.

Death of the Pacific. Fukushima Debris soon to hit American Shores

An unstoppable tide of radioactive trash and chemical waste from Fukushima is pushing ever closer to North America.
An estimated 20 million tons of smashed timber, capsized boats and industrial wreckage is more than halfway across the ocean, based on sightings off Midway by a Russian ship’s crew. Safe disposal of the solid waste will be a monumental task, but the greater threat lies in the invisible chemical stew mixed with sea water.
This new triple disaster floating from northeast Japan is an unprecedented nuclear, biological and chemical (NBC) contamination event. Radioactive isotopes cesium and strontium are by now in the marine food chain, moving up the bio-ladder from plankton to invertebrates like squid and then into fish like salmon and halibut.
Sea animals are also exposed to the millions of tons of biological waste from pig farms and untreated sludge from tsunami-engulfed coast of Japan, transporting pathogens including the avian influenza virus, which is known to infect fish and turtles.
The chemical contamination, either liquid or leached out of plastic and painted metal, will likely have the most immediate effects of harming human health and exterminating marine animals.
The toxic mess won’t stop at the shoreline. Many chemical compounds are volatile and can evaporate with water to form clouds, which will eventually precipitate as rainfall across Canada and the northern United States. The long-term threat extends far inland to the Rockies and beyond, affecting agriculture, rivers, reservoirs and, eventually, aquifers and well water.
Soon after the Fukushima disaster, a spokesman for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) at its annual meeting in Vienna said that most of the radioactive water released from the devastated Fukushima No.1 nuclear plant was expected to disperse harmlessly in the Pacific Ocean.
Another expert in a BBC interview also suggested that nuclear sea-dumping is nothing to worry about because the “Pacific extension” of the Kuroshio Current would deposit the radiation into the middle of the ocean, where the heavy isotopes would sink into Davy Jones’s Locker.
At the time, this writer challenged this sort of unscientific hogwash since oceanographic studies have long indicated the Kuroshio (Black Stream) is the driving force for the North Pacific Current, which rapidly traverses the ocean to North America. The current is a relatively narrow band that acts like a conveyer belt, meaning radioactive materials will not disperse and settle but should remain concentrated
Soon thereafter, the IAEA backtracked, revising its earlier implausible scenario. In a newsletter, the atomic agency projected that cesium-137 might reach the shores of other countries in “several years or months.” To be accurate, the text should have been written “in several months rather than years.”
The network of currents comprise a larger hydrodynamic system known as North Pacific Gyre. Flotsam and jetsam from northeast Japan are moved along this path:
- The Liman or Oyashio (Parent Stream), a mineral-rich cold Arctic current that moves southwest from the Bering Strait past Kamchatka Peninsula and along Japan’s northeast region of Tohoku. The water used to cool the Fukushima meltdown is dumped into the passing Liman, which carries the radioactive wastewater southward toward Choshi Point, east of Tokyo..
- The rocky outcrop at Choshi forces the Liman to swerve eastward, where it collides with the tropical Kuroshio Current moving northward. The interaction of these opposing currents is complicated. The cold Liman is forced underneath the warm Black Tide, which explains why rockfish, abalone, sea urchins and other bottom dwellers have high readings of radioactivity.

An analysis lab in Fukushima has reported 15,000 becquerels per kg, or six times the legally allowable content. (The studies, like all in Japan, use the controversial method of taking average readings from entire samples, instead of measuring hot spots that can be 5 times higher.)

- Along the boundaries of the two currents, gigantic eddies are spun off. The mixing of nutrient-rich cold water with the warm current spurs the genesis of marine life, spawning algae and the larvae of fish and invertebrates. The waters off eastern Japan form the world’s richest fishery.
Of special importance in the food chain are squid, cuttlefish and others in the cephalopod family, which comprise the basic source of protein for fish.
- The merged Liman and Kuroshio become the North Pacific Current, pushing eastward to North America. Large predatory species, including tuna and salmon, feed here on the contaminated squid and on small fishes like herring and mackerel.
- When the North Pacific Current hits the continental shelf, it divides. One stream veers northward along the Canadian and Alaskan coast, and then swings counterclockwise toward the Bering Strait and Kamchatka Peninsula. These areas are the breeding grounds of seals, walruses, whales and sea otters. The region is also a major supplier of salmon and sea cucumbers for the Asian markets.
- The other stream turns clockwise to the south, becoming the California Current, the breeding waters of sea lions, pelicans and humpback whales. That southern stream eventually splits into two new currents: the Equatorial Pacific, which moves from Mexico to the Philippines, where it rejoins the Kuroshio; and the Peruvian, heading southward along the coast of South America and then westward into the South Pacific.
Mega-scale fluid dynamics show that the Fukushima nuclear disaster will soon contaminate most of the vital fisheries of the Pacific, which comprises half of the world’s sea surface.
Over the 30-year half-life of cesium, radioactive isotopes will be recycled a dozen times or more. Once into the Southern Sea surrounding Antarctica, the radioactive substances will move into the Atlantic and Indian Oceans.
If some evil genius, a modern-day Captain Nemo, were to plan the extermination of life on Earth, there could hardly be a better spot for hatching this nefarious plot than Fukushima.
When will the radioactive waste arrive on the West Coast? The distance between northeast Japan and the Pacific Northwest is about 8,000 kilometers. The Kuroshio-North Pacific Current normally makes the passage in about six to seven months.
Heavier materials, such as timber, will move at about half that pace, but chemicals dissolved in the water have already started to reach the Pacific seaboard of North America, a reality being ignored by the U.S. and Canadian governments.
It is all-too easy for governments to downplay the threat. Radiation levels are difficult to detect in water, with readings often measuring 1/20th of the actual content.
Dilution is a major challenge, given the vast volume of sea water. Yet the fact remains that radioactive isotopes, including cesium, strontium, cobalt and plutonium, are present in sea water on a scale at least five times greater than the fallout over land in Japan.
According to a recent estimate by the France-based Institute for Radiological Protection and Nuclear Safety, radioactive sea-dumping from Fukushima is 30 times the amount stated by the Tokyo Electric Power Company. The total amount leaked into the sea is closer to 27 quadrillion becquerels.
A quadrillion is 1,000 trillion. That does not include airborne isotopes that have fallen into the Pacific. Unlike those stories about arsenic, a tiny dose every day of cesium will not make one immune from its toxic effect.
Japan along with many other industrial powers is addicted not just to nuclear power but also to the products from the chemical industry and petroleum producers.
Based on the work of the toxicologist in our consulting group who worked on nano-treatment system to destroy organic compounds in sewage (for the Hong Kong government), it is possible to outline the major types of hazardous chemicals released into sea water by the tsunami.
- Polychlorinated biphenols (PCBs), from destroyed electric-power transformers. PCBs are hormone disrupters that wreck reproductive organs, nerves and endocrine and immune system.

- Ethylene glycol, used as a coolant for freezer units in coastal seafood packing plans and as antifreeze in cars, causes damage to kidneys and other internal organs.
- The 9-11 carbon compounds in the water soluble fraction of gasoline and diesel cause cancers.
- Surfactants, including detergents, soap and laundry powder, are basic (versus to acidic) compounds that cause lesions on eyes, skin and intestines of fish and marine mammals.
- Pesticides from coastal farms, organophosphates that damage nerve cells and brain tissue.
- Drugs, from pharmacies and clinics swept out to sea, which in tiny amounts can trigger major side-effects.
Radiation and chemical-affected sea creatures are showing up along the West Coast of North America, judging from reports of unusual injuries and mortality.
- Hundreds of large squid washed up dead on the Southern California coast in August (squid move much faster than the current).
- Pelicans are being punctured by attacking sea lions, apparently in competition for scarce fish.
- Orcas, killer whales, have been dying upstream in Alaskan rivers, where they normally would never seek shelter.
– Ringed seals, the main food source for polar bears in northern Alaska, are suffering lesions on their flippers and in their mouths. Since the Arctic seas are outside the flow from the North Pacific Current, these small mammals could be suffering from airborne nuclear fallout carried by the jet stream.

This statement reflects the wisdom of the Spiritual People of the Earth, of North and South America, working in unity to restore peace, harmony and balance for our collective future and for all living beings. The Creator created the People of the Earth into the Land at the beginning of Creation and gave us a way of life. This way of life has been passed down generation-to-generation since the beginning. We have not honored this way of life through our own actions and we must live these original instructions in order to restore universal balance and harmony. We are a part of Creation; thus, if we break the Laws of Creation, we destroy ourselves.

We, the Original Caretakers of Mother Earth, have no choice but to follow and uphold the

Original Instructions, which sustains the continuity of Life. We recognize our umbilical connection to Mother Earth and understand that she is the source of life, not a resource to be exploited. We speak on behalf of all Creation today, to communicate an urgent message that man has gone too far, placing us in the state of survival. We warned that one day you would not be able to control what you have created. That day is here.

Not heeding warnings from both Nature and the People of the Earth keeps us on the path of self destruction. This self destructive path has led to the Fukushima nuclear crisis, Gulf oil spill, tar sands devastation, pipeline failures, impacts of carbon dioxide emissions and the destruction of ground water through hydraulic fracking, just to name a few. In addition, these activities and development continue to cause the deterioration and destruction of sacred places and sacred waters that are vital for Life.

Powerful technologies are out of control and are threatening the future of all life. The Fukushima nuclear crisis alone is a threat to the future of humanity. Yet, our concern goes far beyond this single threat. Our concern is with the cumulative and compounding devastation that is being wrought by the actions of human beings around the world. It is the combination of resource extraction, genetically modified organisms, moral failures, pollution, introduction of invasive species and much much more that are threatening the future of life on Earth.

The compounding of bad decisions and their corresponding actions are extremely short-sighted. They do not consider the future generations and they do not respect or honor the Creator’s Natural Law. We strongly urge for the governmental authorities to respond with an open invitation to work and consult with us to solve the world’s problems, without war. We must stop waging war against Mother Earth, and ourselves.

We acknowledge that all of these devastating actions originated in human beings who are living without regard for the Earth as the source of life. They have strayed from the Original Instructions by casting aside the Creator’s Natural Law. It is now critical for humanity to acknowledge that we have created a path to self destruction. We must restore the Original Instructions in our lives to halt this devastation.

The sanctity of the Original Instructions has been violated. As a result, the Spiritual People of the Earth were called ceremonially to come together at the home of the Sacred White Buffalo Calf Pipe Bundle. These

Spiritual Leaders and those that carry great responsibility for their people from both North and South America came together with the sacred fire for four days at the end of September 2013 to fulfill their sacred responsibilities. During this time it was revealed that the spirit of destruction gained its’ strength by our spiritually disconnected actions. We are all responsible in varying degrees for calling forth this spirit of destruction, thus we are all bound to begin restoring what we have damaged by helping one another recover our sacred responsibility to the Earth. We only have to look at our own bodies to recognize the sacred purpose of water on Mother Earth. We respect and honor our spiritual relationship with the lifeblood of Mother Earth. One does not sell or contaminate their mother’s blood. These capitalistic actions must stop and we must recover our sacred relationship with the Spirit of Water.

The People of the Earth understand that the Fukushima nuclear crisis continues to threaten the future of all life. We understand the full implications of this crisis even with the suppression of information and the filtering of truth by the corporate owned media and Nation States. We strongly urge the media, corporations and Nation States to acknowledge and convey the true facts that threaten us, so that the international community may work together to resolve this crisis, based on the foundation of Truth.

We urge the international community, government of Japan and TEPCO to unify efforts to stabilize and re-mediate the nuclear threat posed at the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant. To ensure that the Japanese government and TEPCO are supported with qualified personnel and information, we urge the inclusion of today’s nuclear experts from around the world to collaborate, advise and provide technical assistance to prevent further radioactive contamination or worse, a nuclear explosion that may have apocalyptic consequences.

The foundation for peace will be strengthened by restoring the Original Instructions in ourselves.

Prophecies have been shared and sacred instructions were given. We, the People of the Earth, were instructed that the original wisdom must be shared again when imbalance and disharmony are upon Mother Earth. In 1994 the sacred white buffalo, the giver of the sacred pipe, returned to the Lakota, Dakota and Nakota people bringing forth the sacred message that the winds of change are here. Since that time many more messengers in the form of white animals have come, telling us to wake up my children. It is time. So listen for the sacred instruction.

All Life is sacred. We come into Life as sacred beings. When we abuse the sacredness of Life we affect all Creation. We urge all Nations and human beings around the world to work with us, the Original Caretakers of Mother Earth, to restore the Original Instructions and uphold the Creator’s Natural Law as a foundation for all decision making, from this point forward.

Our collective future as human beings is in our hands, we must address the Fukushima nuclear crisis and all actions that may violate the Creator’s Natural Law. We have reached the crossroads of life and the end of our existence. We will avert this potentially catastrophic nuclear disaster by coming together with good minds and prayer as a global community of all faiths.

Back when I was just a schoolboy, my 5th grade teacher Mrs. Sampson hung the classroom clock on the back wall, so as not to distract us from her lesson plan.  It didn't work, because every kid in that room had the swivel neck, looking over their shoulders to glance the time many times an hour.  Before long She added a hand made sign below the clock, in the shape of a bumper sticker.  It read: "Time will pass...will You?"  We did of course, and along with whatever we gleaned from the teachings; we also acquired a lifelong relationship with time, for better or worse.

For some of us, punctuality is the prime directive while for many it remains an elusive addition to our skill set.  For some of us time is a master, for others, a nagging mother-in-law; and some...well they never give time a second thought, they just don't have the time for it.  In 1971, Spiritualist teacher Ram Dass published his seminal work entitled "Be Here Now," which among many other things, extolled the virtue of living in the present moment.  In a very real sense, the present moment in time is all we ever really have.  While living in the past may seem attractive because the rent was so much lower back then, it is essentially a coping mechanism used by folks who just cannot handle the pace of modern day life.  Conversely, living in the future (daydreaming) may seem like a productive effort, but only the very talented manage to make a decent living at it - for all the rest it remains just another defense mechanism...the eternal hope that the future will be better despite reality showing no signs thereof.

The reason so many guru's and spiritual teachers want us to focus upon, and live in, the present moment is because time is an illusion of our own creation, we made it up, just like we do with everything else.  Humans invented the concept of time primarily to facilitate being asleep within a consensus reality matrix.  Those awake within the dream we call life released the notion of time, knowing as they do that all there is, or ever was or will be...is the eternal Now.  The Point of Power is always in the present moment, never in the past, or future...and that is, the power of choice.    Time is spherical, not linear, and as such it connects every aspect of All That Is with every other aspect...not a single aspect excluded.  Put another way, everything that has ever happened or ever will happen is all happening right now in this eternal moment of Now.  Fortunately we have a built in mechanism which acts like a series of step-down transformers to prevent this fact from toasting our grey matter: it's called the 12 chakra system.

We also use time as a convenient scapegoat when we really don't want to do something: "I just don't have the time."  Balderdash!  Each of us has the exact same amount of "time" with which to do things.  The same number of hours in a day that Bill Gates, and Stephen Hawking have, we also have; so we either  If we hadn't created time then perhaps we'd be less anxious to muck about making periodic changes in it to squeeze every last dollar from each day ~ Daylight savings time!  Twice a year the owners force us to gain or loose an hour every day to accommodate purely commercial enterprises, totally disregarding the sacred sleep cycle.  To make it even worse, the last daylight savings time shift happened to occur during the current period of mercury retrograde, in Scorpio!  Think of the hundreds of working folk who forgot to adjust their clocks, and as a result rush franticly to make up the lost time.  How many will cause or be included in a traffic accident because of time?  Speaking of working folk; just who is responsible for the 40 hour work week anyway?  What an archaic abuse of time.

Does anybody keep those kind of statistics...about the cost in dollars & lives of this ridiculous mockery of time called daylight savings time?  What then of the additional confusion caused when some communities here and there refuse to acknowledge DST, and keep the same time year round?  Yes it can be chaotic, and often times funny depending upon one's perspective.  Consider the ancient Maya, who were indeed masters of time.  For more than 2000 years their civilization got along just fine with time.  They understood time perhaps better than anyone ever has, and they measured it in cycles and patterns, whether the cycle was Trecena-13 days, Veintena-20 days, Tzolkin-260 days: or the long count of 26 thousand years.  I think the Maya understood the timelessness of time, they understood it in Galactic terms, rather than planetary, I think they could see the eternal moment of time which surrounds, and eventually engulfs us all.

Of course, mankind's tampering with time is as a drop of water in the ocean compared to what the universe routinely does with time.  Thanks to Albert Einstein we know that all things, including time, are relative.  We know, for instance that a space traveler who went to alpha centauri & back would return having hardly aged while everyone they ever knew had long since died.  We know that nothing, including light can escape from a black hole, so what about time...what becomes of it in such an environment?  Kinda gets us back to that eternal moment of Now.  Distances in the galaxy, and universe are so vast we must measure them in terms of time, how long it takes light to travel a year at 186,000 feet per second...or a light year.  for example, on this scale, the light from our sun takes eight minutes & 17 seconds to reach earth.

Because of relativity, time has shown us some marvelous things, for instance; if you set two identical clocks to the exact same time, then put one on a space ship traveling at light speed...you get what is termed spooky action at distance; in other words changes made to the earth bound clock would also appear on the clock aboard the space ship!  Weird enough for you??  Buckle up!!  Scientists are now discovering that even the speed of light may not be a universal constant, as Einstein thought.

Things get even stranger in regards to time when we look at the opposite end of the spectrum, where we find atoms, molecules and such.  Cutting edge advancements in our understanding of the quantum world of string theory show that the laws of physics as we know them work quite differently on the sub-atomic scale.  Electrons behave very strangely, as we can measure either it's position, or speed, but not both at once; the reason for this being partially due to the electron's ability to appear to be in two places at the same time!  Electrons can manifest either as a particle, or a wave...(but once again), not at the same moment.  And what about Tachyons, those theoretical particles which cannot mover slower than the speed of light??  Think of the astonishing potential harnessing tachyons would have.  It would enable and facilitate faster than light communication; such that exchanging messages with both the past and future would be feasible.  You would of course have to in some manner invoke or create a Lorentz Invariance to get around some undesirable side effects on the causality of things, but it could be done, given you could create or collect tachyons.

Don't get comfortable with time just yet because in less than a nanosecond we're going even smaller, and further down the wormhole.  What's smaller than a Nanosecond you may ask??  Have you heard of Planck Time?  Let me put it to you this way...  Planck time is the time required for light to travel (in a vacuum) a distance of one Planck Length:  How small is that???  If one atom was the size of the entire known universe, a Planck length would be the height of the average tree!  I mention this mostly to give some perspective to the discussion of time as we understand and live with it.  If we are ever to understand how we fit into the overall scheme of things, shouldn't we effort to discover how the overall structure of things functions?

So here we all are at the end of time (Mayan calendar) just as world shaking changes are taking place, (as predicted) and the resonance of 5D grows stronger with each soul arising from slumber.  You might expect that time itself would begin exhibiting previously unseen attributes, and you'd be right.  A great many people nowadays are having the experience of elastic time when some hours are much longer than others...and sometimes it seems that time itself freezes for brief periods, and even  Just more evidence of shifting realities and paradigms.  Many of us speak in terms of there currently being two earths, of incompatible resonance vibration...so imagine the surprise when I begin to see headlines about the earth splitting in two at the equator this week.

Obviously, if we are indeed at the end of time then, by definition we are pioneers ~ being as we are 'where no one has gone before'... and cannot expect therefore to find such luxuries as map, compass or instructions.  We're here on our own kids, and that means it's time to put everything we've learned (spiritually) into play, "It's Showtime!" and the clock is ticking.

Like uncle Albert showed us, time is relative depending on whether you're using galactic measurements, or Planck lengths: whether you're talking about time on a geologic, prehistoric, or current day scale.  When we humans invent something as cool as time, we sure don't spare the detail...we go all in.  The Rolling Stones may have had time on their side, but then they weren't living in today's post-Fukushima reality where not only is time decidedly not on our side, (meaning us, the living), it isn't even our friend anymore.

There comes a time when no matter how frightening the horror is; you can no longer hide beneath the blanket, hoping the nightmare will get better or go away.  When even the strongest denial syndrome cracks from repeated blows of cognitive dissonance, you simply have to come out and face the monster, and then stare it down, because it ain't gonna get better and it's not going away.  Between the few reports of radiation related deaths escaping the Japanese barricade against truth, and the scores of sick, dying and mutated marine life washing up simply everywhere, the Fukushima cows are coming home to roost big time.  The genocide of the pacific ocean from Fukushima radiation is now so widespread that not even the most determined efforts can censor it.  The truth is out, and as usual...it's far worse than we have been told.

Just this week we have seen several experts and authorities openly admitting to the press that the overall situation is, in a word, Hopeless.  Like the super massive black hole at the center of our galaxy, the nuclear volcano Fukushima will just continue to eat away at every single lifeform on earth, until at last the only life remaining will be that which thrives on such extreme environments.  Cockroaches!

The point here is simple and easy for anyone to see, and that is, that time is more precious to us now than it ever has been before in the history of our species.  Simple as that.  When it comes down to your final days of life, what memories will you cherish most?  Will you wish you had put in more overtime down at the office?  Or perhaps you'll wish you'd spent more time acknowledging, and being with those you care about the most.  Will you curse yourself for the time you wasted, or be at peace, knowing time spent knowing yourself is never wasted?  Even if every other major crisis on this planet was peacefully resolved with food and shelter enough for every single human, and the abolishment of war, slavery and GMO food-like-products was a fact of life....there still would be no fix for Fukushima, and it will just continue, long after the last human perishes from this place.

This then, is the trap of time.  What will we do with the remaining time given us?  Will all semblance of civilized society dissolve into the stuff of every apocalyptic movie ever made...or will we, as a species show a bit of class, a shard of dignity as we go down with Gaia; taking a deep breath and accepting our fate?  Yeah, I know you'd prefer not to think about such things...and that's a huge part of the problem here because it prevents you from finding that peace.  The peace to go out dancing every weekend and follow your favorite band on tour as though the world was just dandy and fixin to last a million more years.  The peace that leads to finding the truly precious things about life, before you must release it, once again, as you have so very many times before.

What shall we do?  I rather suppose that we should re-think our priorities in life just now, and take stock as they say.  Make a conscious effort to acknowledge, and respect all life...ALL life.  Maybe dial back the pretentiousness and aggression enough to see that we really are all one after all, and from that, take forgiveness & gratitude...and some humble pie.  There will of course be hoarding and elevated competition for dwindling resources, but I'm really hoping humanity can rise above those levels of barbarism since we are in the very midst of a spiritual evolution, and all.  Perhaps in the final analysis this is what it takes for us to finally begin to truly value one another.  Just as Hunab Ku, the black hole at the center of our galaxy; Time has us in it's grip, which doesn't seem so bad until the corporeal systems begin to fail.  And just like the black hole; Time will have it's way with us - in the fullness of time.
