Hope in Action

What the Mayan Elders are Saying About 2012 by Carlos Barrios
Carlos Barrios is a Mayan priest, historian, anthropologist, researcher, and an expert in the Sacred Maya Calendar. Carlos was born in Guatemala.  After studying with traditional elders for 25 years he became a Mayan Ajq’ij, a ceremonial priest, shaman, and spiritual guide and member of the ‘World Council of Mayan Elders.
Carlos initiated an investigation into the different Mayan calendars circulating. Carlos along with his brother Gerardo studied with many teachers and interviewed nearly 600 traditional Mayan elders to widen their scope of knowledge.  Carlos found out quickly there were several conflicting interpretations of Mayan hieroglyphs, petroglyphs, Sacred Books of ‘Chilam Balam’ and various ancient text. Carlos found some strong words for those who may have contributed to the confusion:
Carlos Barrios: “Anthropologists visit the temple sites and read the inscriptions and make up stories about the Maya, but they do not read the signs correctly. It’s just their imagination. Other people write about prophecy in the name of the Maya. They say that the world will end in December 2012. The Mayan elders are angry with this. The world will not end. It will be transformed.”
The hope is that the meme of transformation spreads to as many people as possible. The world will only be transformed if enough people lend themselves to this task. Mr. Barrios seems to imply that the transformation will occur on December 21st, 2012.  The transformation has been afoot for some time already, but the process of transforming imperial civilization into a sane planetary culture is a work of indeterminate length.  December 21st, 2012 marks only the formal end of the Maya Long Count Cycle and it has the potential to be a mega-historic event in terms of a ritualized mass social observance with planetary scaled sociocultural implications.
“We are no longer in the World of the Fourth Sun, but we are not yet in the World of the Fifth Sun. This is the time in-between, the time of transition. As we pass through transition there is a colossal, global convergence of environmental destruction, social chaos, war, and ongoing Earth Changes.”
The Myth of the Fifth Sun is derived from an Aztec creation story that says that the world has been created and destroyed 4 times and that we are presently in the 5th Sun or world. But Mr. Barrios says we are in the 4th sun going into the 5th.  The most widely accepted version of the Aztec creation myth is that we are in the 5th Sun.    The Aztec creation myth is a clear reference to a cycle of some sort, but it is unclear as to how long each creation cycle is?  Each creation cycle starts with one of the Tzolkin calendar’s 20 archetypal signs, but again we don’t have a reference to a specific time period(s).
Whatever the case we needn’t interpret the creation myth in literal terms.  The most important cycle to the Aztecs was the 52 year cycle. And they did indeed observe each transition with rituals symbolic of destruction and subsequent regeneration. In many cases they do go so far as to destroy and rebuild significant temples.   Interestingly the Aztecs were not tracking the Maya Long Count cycle that ends on December 21st, 2012. So it is very curious to see Mr. Barrios mixing uncomplementary aspects of Aztec and Maya calendrics.  He acknowledges the woeful human-planetary condition as a sign that we have reached some sort of potential turning point. “Earth changes” is a popular term used among the New Age community as a reference to changes supposedly consistent with the age of transformation. Currently any cataclysmic event is considered as an “earth change” event even if such events have been present since time immemorial.
He continues: “Humanity will continue, but in a different way. Material structures will change. From this we will have the opportunity to be more human. We are living in the most important era of the Mayan calendars and prophecies. All the prophecies of the world, all the traditions are converging now. There is no time for games. The spiritual ideal of this era is action.”
Here we have his reference to “prophecies” and as always the case the authors fail to mention what they are or at least where we may find them. I pointed out in my last article that the ancient Mesoamericans were not in the practice of issuing prophecies because they didn’t need to nor can anybody know the specifics of what will happen in the future. I wrote that ‘Implicit in the closing of a cycle is the notion of transition. Transition implies the extraordinary changes that concur with such times”  His mention of the “spiritual idea of the time as action” corresponds to my proposal to encourage people to realize events in honor of the zeitgiest or spirit of the times and with the specific intent to…
to catalyze Global participation toward the co-creation of a better world !
to inspire hope in action, co-creation and collaboration on a scale never before seen !

Guardians

 Guardians of the Last Hope
by Gillian MacBeth-Louthan
We all come to an intersection of self and soul, light and dark, grey matter and everything in-between.
August has asked us to walk forward into the dark passageways of time using only the light we hold in our heart. It has wrapped its energies around us like a boa, squeezing us until we say ‘uncle.’ This month has demanded our undivided attention.
Like glass, we have shattered only to be replaced with a solar mirror reflection of what is possible. We have been asked to expand past any perimeters of lack or limitation into a place of undiluted freedom. This month has sent some button pushing master teachers in the form of anyone and anything we have a charged reaction to. It has asked us to bend over touch our cosmic toes and still balance on the high wire of light, all the while juggling our regular life.
The teachings of August have been like a drill sergeant in your face, breaking down all that does not serve one. You cannot run, hide or shield yourself from these learning’s, as they stick to one like a cosmic spider web. August has always been a month of transformation, pushing us into new teachings before the colors change in the autumn. Breathing deeply and continually asking for divine insight and clarity will bring one to edge of their old selves.
Like a fledgling, you can be pushed from the comfy nest or learn to fly on your own. The mechanics of manifestation and creation is being re-defined. The words ‘want and need’ will no longer describe who you are. The words “have, create, deserve, receive” will be where you land.
Humanity is the only species that was made in the Creator’s image holding all the credentials for doing great feats. We are the last Hope of a loving God that sees the future of this blue-green sphere and is dependant upon humanity to move past its self-imposed trials and tribulations. Finally securing its place in the universe. We the people, can never stop believing in better days, in the goodness of mankind, and in universal justice. We can never stop believing in our dreams, for ourselves and those we love.
Darkness feeds on doubt and fear. It wants us to give up and give in to a bleak future with no hope. We are the Guardians of the last Hope, fueled by the Creators belief and faith in us, it is our mission and duty to hold this Light of Hope high for all to see. Let your light shine on what seems like the darkest of days. For one spark of Hope can ignite an entire world. As the memory of what was, seems to drift like a dream in the morning, we continue to move quickly down the corridor of time. We are being ushered into time doors that swing both ways. Down hallways that never end, into a place that has not been created yet.
All of us have seen and felt the energy and the trail of chaos it leaves behind. Time is like a wild horse that bucks the 24 hr system and continues to look for a way out of the dimensional corral. Time brushes past us like a gust of wind, not asking our permission to do what it was born to do.
Time has shifted. It has quickened its pace, and all past alignments have shifted as well. Longitudes and latitudes dance to a new beat. Leylines and time markers are off line, sacred geometries are reset. An actual cog in time has been felt as the worlds walk into a new wavelength of Light.
Life pushes us harder into a corner of limited choices or so it seems, but it is us that has painted ourselves into that corner by our limited thinking. We can just as easily paint a way out if we choose.
We still biologically walk to the beat of the old drum when the band plays on in a different octave of time and light. Our perceptions are enhanced and we see in and out of time but are still not sure where to place each thought. Seeing between the worlds is not a place for those weak of purpose.
One must hold tightly to the tight wire as time doors are opened and possibilities present themselves in a new array of colors. The unexpected is to be expected on a daily basis. People do there best to hide what ails them, but actions are louder than any words.
This year of time asks one to get down to the business of picking up the shattered glass and like Alice, going into all facets and fractures of self. The Mayans were the first to use mirrors as a portal of transport to places that could not be seen with the naked eye. The place of mirrors comes to reflect what needs to be seen as one crosses the timelines of multi-verses.
Seeing into the future is not a place for those weak of heart or knee. As one walks through the time doors, many trap doors make themselves know. Mini black holes to other universes and places of parallel time loops, can escort one back and forth creating a dizzying effect. Time doors open and close faster than the blink of an eye. Truth and time are individual, and do not present a singular view or outcome.
The unknowable becomes seen in the halls of time. That which has been emptied now becomes full. Freeing itself from definition, there is nothing to do, there is nothing to let go of, you are simply free to explore all that you are. A shift of realm awakens from a long sleep to escort you into the nexus cornerstone where time and space meet and embrace you.
All limitations are transformed in this expanded version of reality.
Do you have the courage to quantum leap into this fluid point of possibility and swim with the big fish in the sea of the collective dream field? Your vessel of eternal self is being purified for the expanded energies and truths of the upcoming shifts from now to 2012.
You are an instrument of light that is being fine-tuned.

2012 A.D.

The End of the Mayan Calendar is scheduled for December 21, 2012 (give or take a year or two).
The possibilities of what this “end” might mean is an increasingly hot topic on the Internet, in conferences, printed articles, and in discussions all over the globe.  This is because it just might be an incredibly important moment in history -- e.g., the end of history!
Calendars, in general, do not end .  The whole purpose of developing and/or keeping a calendar is to predict future events based upon the cyclical nature of the world -- to keep such things as agriculture in line with the seasons or inform out-of-line politicians when their terms of office are up for reconsideration.  [In this regard, politicians are like babies.  Both need to be changed periodically, and often, for the same reason.]  But the idea that everything is coming to some sort of completion, i.e. the end of cycles, the end of days, the end... period...  This just doesn’t compute when it comes to the idea of a calendar.
But the Mayan Calendar is not necessarily your average, run-of-the-mill calendar.  It is, among other things, reputed to be the most accurate in the world.  This is due in part to the fact it is also a relatively complicated calendar, using cycles of 13 and 20 (weird!), relating to the cycles of other planets (e.g. Venus), and in general incorporating some 22 (at last count) different sub-calendars, such that every contingency can be accounted for.
The Mayans did not elaborate in great detail about what would happen in 2012 A.D., just that their calendar would end.  However, there has been no end (pardon the pun) to the possibilities being forecast by modern day interpretors of what the Mayans might have meant.  These possibilities include 2012 A.D. as a time for:
            1) major changes in human DNA (as in Indigo Children),
            2) an enormous leap in Consciousness,
            3) dimensional shifts (as in Hyperdimensional Physics and/or Superstrings),
            4) the cessation of linear Time,
            5) an evolutionary human pinnacle,
            6) a huge surge and multiple breakthroughs in technology,
            7) the end of Money [ you jest! ],
            8) massive genetic mutations [the good news!],
9)) Massive earthquakes and volcanic activity due to sunspot activity and unique planetary alignments
           10) a serious, altogether-too-close encounter with a Near-Earth Objects member,
           11) and a cosmic alignment of our solar system with the plane of our Galaxy, the Milky Way.  The latter represents the end of a 25,920 year cycle -- a cycle based on the Precession of the Equinoxes).

What the Mayans Left

Over 2,000 years ago the early Maya formulated a profound galactic cosmology. They saw that the sun, on the winter solstice, was slowly moving toward the heart of the galaxy.
